About My Mom and Me

Mrs. Vandersluis

She knows everything - seriously, she does - from answers to household enigmas, to precision Bible knowledge, to what I wore on March 3, 1985. Regardless of whether you'll listen to her at the time, without fail, she's always right.  Growing up, I viewed my mom as Superwoman because she was glamorous, fun, loving, and able to keep everything perfect and clean with little to no effort.

Now, she's still always right and still all of those nice things I said above.  She's the one who knows what to do with parchment paper, the proper packing algorithm for a dishwasher, the answer to why whatever disaster I made for dinner tastes weird, and how to make you admit that you didn't do whatever it was you were supposed to do.

Me

I'm just a mostly-grown woman who's still learning from Mom.  I - honest to goodness - thought that "high altitude" baking instructions were for preparing meals on planes and that green olives were made in nature with pimentos inside.

  1. Wait what? Green olives aren't engineered by Monsanto with those little red thingies already in there?
